{mosimage}Cloning Arteta is wondering whether sports betting is a mug's game. "How can any individual expect to win against bookmakers who are spending such resources compiling odds? To a large extent this argument holds, and the simple fact that it is very hard to win long term is no doubt underestimated by punters in general. But there are factors in the punter's favour also. One is the sheer number of markets that bookies have to cover - whereas the punter can focus exclusively on certain areas. Another is that bookies can be slow to react to new developments, such as changes in the balance of power between clubs, players improving etc.".
Trade on Sports had a profit from a poor game but a fantastic day in the live trading room. The advice that was followed have been the following:"[...]
- Lay Australia @ 1.65 Morning odds then touched 2.20
- Lay Australia when odds were 1.41 with Back plan of 1.60 Odds reached 1.80 after fall of 3 wicket.
- Back Draw @10 after Lunch Odds shortened to 6.8
- Lay Australia @ 2.10 or below after 5 wickets if odds shorten let it
run and consider laying more @1.51. Odds shortened to 1.62 and are now
2.88
- Back India @ 3.5 Odds are now 1.68"
The Betfair Loser had a poor performance,
although he made £55.73. "I had 3 big losses last night on the tennis,
but still managed to scrape a profit. I'm finding it very difficult to
find a decent trading opportunity, with a poor match selection on
Eurosport.
As a result, I am trading using the scoreboards, which at best is very
hit and miss. When using the scoreboard method, I am working purely by
the scores...This means I miss getting a 'feel' for the game, not
getting to see players performance or body language. Far too much of a
lottery!"
