Everyone is always looking for tips and advice from the best and Dan Harrington is considered to be one of the best. Dan Harrington has an impressive resume when it comes to poker which includes two bracelets at the World Series of Poker and one happens to be the Main Event bracelet. Just so happens that Dan Harrington won the satellite to the Main Event the year he won event and he wanted to cash in his $10,000 buy in token for cold hard cash but he was a not aloud. He wanted to cash out because he wanted to play cash games and he wasn't a big tournament player at the time but I guess winning the Main Event can change all that. Before his tournament success ‘Action Dan' has had success in cash games which lead him to writing this book.

In recent poker news you have heard about former WSOP Main Event Greg Raymer and his PokerStars account. Raymer's account was recently hacked into by a relentless person who attempted several times to retrieve Fossilman's password and eventually became successful. The hacker then proceeded to ‘dump' all of Raymer's money to his account but apparently he isn't as smart as he seems to be. He did the dumping in an obvious manner and PokerStars caught on rather quickly and contacted Raymer to verify that it was not him managing his account during this time period. PokerStars eventually refunded all Raymer's money and will proceed to give the hackers information to the police in hopes that the hacker will pay for his wrong doing. This isn't the usual poker news you hear every day but it's something that every online player should be aware of.

Poker Software

I recently just started working with Texas Calculatem and I immediately noticed that the software is very similar (if not identical) to Calculatem Pro. Texas Calculatem is software designed to improve the skills and knowledge of its users so that they can become long term successful poker players. Texas Calculatem has all the features a player could want and it will teach you the fundamentals of the game; it's almost as if there is a real life professional giving you tips and advice. Texas Calculatem displays your whole cards on its software and will tell you what you ‘should' do in the hand whether that is call, fold, or raise. It bases its decision on your position on the table, the hand you are holding, and also it does take into account the pot odds within the hand. I may be wrong on this but I would imagine there many players out there who just go through the motions when they play and they don't really think about anything else besides the hand they are holding. With Texas Calculatem on your side this will make you think about what is going on the table with a little more depth to it. Texas Calculatem has many great features so allow me to discuss them for you.

When playing internet poker it may be a difficult task getting chips/funds on one poker site when you are playing on a different poker site unless you are willing to deposit. Well this difficult task is made easier with only a small fee and it's available through SendMyChips.com. Send My Chips is a unique website unlike most and its offers a poker chip transfer service that is hard to find via internet. Let me discuss how it works and the other perks that this site has to offer.

Looking for an edge while you sit down to play some online poker? Well if that is the case then the Holdem Genius software could be what you are looking for to take your game to the next level. Holdem Genius helps train if you will the players that use the software to become better overall poker players. Once you download the software you must first open Holdem Genius then the software will ask you what poker site you would like to connect with and then you proceed to do so. Right now for my trial run I have connected Holdem Genius to my Full Tilt Poker software to see how it really works and to make the assessment if it is worth my time.

Calculatem Pro is software in which it is designed to help improve the skills of the people that use it by giving them the information that is needed to succeed in poker. Calculatem Pro tells its users whether or not to call, raise, or to simply throw the hand away. It bases its decision on your position on the table and the hand you are holding at the time. Along with giving you the advice on deciding what source of action to do it also contains many more important features. Calculatem Pro gives your hand rank, tells you your hand strength throughout the hand, gives the odds that you will have the best hand on the flop, shows the number of outs you have to make your hand and Calculatem Pro also shows the percentage of pot vs. call. There is a lot of information that is being given to you but throughout the course of a poker hand this information is vital if you would like to be a consistent winner at the game of poker.

I recently did an article of how Poker Blinds Cost Money in the Long Run and this article is really no different. You can almost consider it as the 2nd half to my other article. When dealing with multi table tournaments a player must pay attention to the blind structure of the tournament. By looking at the structure a player can evaluate how he wants to play that certain tournament. If the levels are long and the blinds/antes don't increase at a fast rate then players at the table can afford to sit around and pick their spots. But if the tournament is say a ‘turbo' then a player might start to open up his range a little more in order to keep up with blinds increasing.

There are plenty of poker books to choose from when you are deciding which poker book to read and I mean there are PLENTY. Obviously all the books you will read will offer tips, advice, and strategy toward the game of poker but many of the books are different. Some books may be offering you cash game advice, some may offer you multi tournament advice or even give you tips to help you destroy the field in the sit n go world. Though there are multiple books for the topics I just mentioned; the books are written by different authors/players so the readers can get a wide range of information and then proceed to use the strategy that fits them. Super System may be the most popular poker book on the market today and that may because it comes from the legendary Doyle Brunson. Today I want to share some of the other poker books that may not get the same publicity but still offer great poker advice.

Poker Strategy

One of the moves in Texas Hold'em that I try to stay away from is putting my tournament life on a draw. More often than not I will leave the table on tilt and frustrated that my draw did not hit even though the odds will tell you that the flush will not hit the majority of the time anyway. Yet this can all change if the right odds are available to the player and this is where pot and implied odds come into play. I saw many cases in the past where people fold (either A they are not very good at poker or B they had a terrible hand in which they didn't think they could call and I may even go with option C which is all of the above) when they should be calling with any two cards because of the pot odds they were receiving. I have seen people fold to 35 chips when the pot is 3,000 chips because well....actually I am baffled why they would fold?? Let's discuss pot and implied odds before these memories put me on tilt.
