Greg ‘Fossilman’ Raymer is in Poker News Again
Online Poker - Poker News

Pokerstars NewsIn recent poker news you have heard about former WSOP Main Event Greg Raymer and his PokerStars account.  Raymer's account was recently hacked into by a relentless person who attempted several times to retrieve Fossilman's password and eventually became successful.  The hacker then proceeded to ‘dump' all of Raymer's money to his account but apparently he isn't as smart as he seems to be.  He did the dumping in an obvious manner and PokerStars caught on rather quickly and contacted Raymer to verify that it was not him managing his account during this time period.  PokerStars eventually refunded all Raymer's money and will proceed to give the hackers information to the police in hopes that the hacker will pay for his wrong doing.  This isn't the usual poker news you hear every day but it's something that every online player should be aware of.

As an online player myself it's little unsettling that this hacker was successful in his attempts to retrieve Raymer's password but also a bit at ease that PokerStars caught on to the matter in a hurry.  Obviously Raymer's fame hurt him in this matter because the popular poker celebrities (and past champions) will be the players that would be targeted before any other player.  In the age of technology that we are in we always have to be aware of the hackers and the people out there that are trying to take advantage of the new technology out there.  In this case the hacker got into Raymer's account after several attempts and you never know what could happen if he didn't do the ‘dumping' so stupidly.

PokerstarsMy suggestion to everyone out there would be to change their password often and make it a difficult one at that.  The poker room you play at may not pick up on it the situation right away if your account were to be hacked because the majority of us don't have the fame that Raymer has.  Online poker can be a scary world for everyone because it's a huge money making business.  Happen to remember the poker news about Ultimate Bet and the 20 million dollar scandal that took place some odds years ago.  This incident actually appeared on an edition of 60 Minutes and brought the scandal to the nationwide audience.  I always yell at the screen when I take bad beats about poker being ‘rigged' and with these events it's tough not to think that (though I'm 99.9% it's legit) but I'm just saying.

I don't like to report this type of poker news but I wanted to let everyone know that the hackers are out there and odds they aren't going anywhere.  So remember to change your passwords often to keep those hackers off guard and monitor your account to the best of your abilities.   I'm sorry that it happened to the Fossilman but the fact that it happened will open everyone's eyes and make us all aware of the possibilities.  Protect those accounts and may they all run good.
