Looking for an edge while you sit down to play some online poker?  Well if that is the case then the Holdem Genius software could be what you are looking for to take your game to the next level.  Holdem Genius helps train if you will the players that use the software to become better overall poker players.  Once you download the software you must first open Holdem Genius then the software will ask you what poker site you would like to connect with and then you proceed to do so.  Right now for my trial run I have connected Holdem Genius to my Full Tilt Poker software to see how it really works and to make the assessment if it is worth my time.

Holdem Genius will first recognize the hand you are dealt and will know the position you are in at the table.  It will know if you are in the big or small blind and it will automatically adjust to the position.  Holdem Genius (based on your hand) tells you to fold, check or fold, raise/re-raise, call 1 bet, or to call only to fold if it is raised and even tells you that the pot odds insist calling is the right option.  It will automatically adjust to the action on the table and will also continuously update your hand as the cards are being dealt.  The only problem I would have with this type of software is that it doesn't count for the other player's tendencies on the table.  If a player is being extremely active or extremely tight, Holdem Genius doesn't adjust for human tendencies that occur on the table and the software will strictly play the hand you are dealt and this could cause players to miss opportunities at the table.

Holdem Genius doesn't take into account the different human tendencies other players have but it does allow you to adjust your ‘playing style'.  On the Holdem Genius toolbar players can choose from playing style, options, or help.  Under playing style players can program the software to adjust to how they would to play.  For instance a player can decide how aggressive or tight they want to be before and after the flop.  It also allows players to adjust other settings (settings for what hands to play) when you are in the small blind, the big blind, the position of the dealer button and you can also make adjustments if there are 4+ players left at the table (5+ players, etc).  Great feature to allow players to program their game into the software.

Under the options tab players can decide what is all shown at the table.  Meaning players can choose to show hand odds, show draws, show info window, show top hands, keep cards after you fold, watch fold depth, 4 color deck, dealer is BB when heads up, and the option to use pot odds when they are available.  You also choose your calculation speed which is between fast (which is less accurate), normal, or accurate (fast CPU).

Holdem Genius is great for anyone starting out or anyone who wants to clean up their game.  With unique features you really can't find on any other software I feel that Holdem Genius can really help anyone's game.  The only part I would be cautious about would be the fact that the software doesn't account for human tendencies that you can pick up on from the other players at the table.  You can check out more information at holdemgenius.com.
