It’s been a long summer. Last year we had the World Cup in Brazil keeping us warm, but this year…Well, golf tournaments, Wimbledon and le Tour de France are all good, but they’re mere crumpets for football fans.

Finally we’re itching closer to the start of the Premier League. And since July 1st, everyone has been following this summer’s transfer sagas, and the Silly Season, which is an important and exciting part of life as a football fan. Raheem Sterling finally got his staggering £49M move from Liverpool to Manchester City, much thanks to everyone’s favourite agent, Aiden Ward, who pocketed a mere £2M from the deal. A nice guy if there ever was one.

Liverpool have been busy as well this summer, signing Christian Benteke, James Milner, Nat Clyne, Roberto Firmino, Danny Ings and Joe Gomez. It looks a decent catch for Liverpool, but will it be enough to secure a top 4 finish?

Chelsea looked a formidable force last season and they did not really need any reinforcements. With the departure of veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech to London rivals Arsenal, Asmir Begovic was acquired from Stoke to challenge Courtois. Moreover, “The Special One”, José Mourinho thinks he can get Manchester United reject Radamel Falcao back to former glory. A loan deal with Monaco has been signed.

Everyone expects Manchester United to be back in full force this season, and my oh my, they have made some key signings this summer. Bastian Schweinsteiger made a shock move from Bayern Munich along with Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton. Dutch youngster Memphis Depay was already in place and Matteo Darmian was brought in to strengthen the defense. According to manager Louis van Gaal, we could still expect more…The big question remains though, will David De Gea stay or will he go? And what about Angel Di Maria? The questions and rumors are swarming United these days.

Title challenger Manchester City brought in record signing Sterling as we mentioned, and another Englishman, Fabian Delph, made one of the biggest U-turns in football history when he decided to sign for the Sky Blues. It will be extremely exciting to see what Manuel Pellegrini’s disciples can do this season.

With the start of the Premier League, also comes tons of summer-slumbering betting opportunities.
